wear it wednesday [happy 30 years, mom & dad]

Wednesday, December 10, 2014
[left to right: the hubs, yours truly, lily olivia, mama bear, papa bear, and sisterface]

monday my parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. 30 years! isn't that amazing?  and last saturday night, we celebrated with friends and family - don't we look good?

to echo my sister's toast, you are the best example of what a marriage should be - we love you!

p.s. this is as close to outfit pics as i get these days, just invited a few more people. i'm wearing an old navy dress [old, from the summer] and f21 necklace. classy.

p.p.s. linking up with the pleated poppy!

mama monday [9 month update]

Monday, December 8, 2014
[9 month parole photo. been out as long as she's been in. we hardcore]

our little roaring tiger turned 9 months on saturday and actually sat still for a picture [like a big girl in the big chair]! this month lily:
  • is still waiting for teeth
  • started "roaring"
  • transitioned to mostly formula and baby food [and nursing morning and night]
  • transitioned to a convertible car seat [and hates it, naturally]
  • still pulling up on everything and just wants to stand
  • attended her first dinner party at a fancy restaurant for my parents' 30th anniversary [and behaved like a champ]
  • mastered the pincer grip and will pick up tiny things like puffs [and lint off the floor...]
lily likes: puffs [aka baby crack], eating of any kind, bedtime routine [she's in bed by 6:30pm], beau, daycare, and roaring at things.

lily dislikes: her new convertible car seat [here we go again], being overtired, not being allowed to crawl where she wants, and getting her diaper changed first thing in the morning.

we've also discovered a bit of an allergy to citrusy foods [all given in beechnut baby food products] and broccoli, so we're holding off on those goodies for now.

and, as my nursing days come to an end [i've officially stopped pumping, which is so liberating but sad at the same time], i'm realizing that in a few short months my little baby is going to be 1. i can't even believe it.

we love you, little tiger girl, you can roar at us any time.

friday favs [my holiday wishlist]

holiday wishlist

gosh is it that time again? time to give you the jist
and share with you fine folks my little wishlist?
this year i've kept it to just what i need,
and not gone all crazy and giddy with greed.

let's start with my favorite, a pretty new cape
over t-shirts and button downs this sure would drape
like the beautiful necessity that this piece sure is
and by getting it for me you're not gonna miss.

next up are two bags, and i know what you're thinking
does she really need two or has she been drinking?
well the answer is no, well ok  just a couple
see when shopping for bags, better make it a double!

are those ugg slippersyou're probably asking
why, yes, yes they are and they'll be great for basking
in the glow of the fireplace on those cold winter nights
as i'm sitting on the couch and downing wine flights.

now we come to our last item, a beautiful pair
stuart weitzman sure has quite the masterful flair
when it comes to boots that go over the knee
and i bet, no, i know, they'll look great on me!

so to you and your family, may you know only cheer
for this holiday season and into the new year!
and if you're reading this santa, in your jolly red suit,
i've been an awfully good girl, maybe bring me those boots?

black friday [lily's christmas list]

Friday, November 28, 2014
lily's christmas list

since you're probably out shopping [or at work wishing you were shopping] for your christmas/hannukah gifts, i thought i'd share what a little almost-9-month old baby girl would have on her christmas list.
  • eat: snap bibs! i've lily has wanted these bibs for a while now. they're super easy to clean all her messes
  • safety: the little miss is getting to the point where we'll need to switch from the baby car seat to a convertible one that stays in the car. we're thinking this britax advocate g4 [which tops the reviews list] is a great buy
  • play: lily's really been into picking things up and throwing them down [maybe she's a lunk?] so these and these blocks would be great for her to knock over [and maybe learn some a b c's]. and since she's been pulling up on everything, i think she'd enjoy this great activity table!
  • snuggle: lily loves snuggling with her bunnies by the bay silly buddy [that mom and dad picked up on their babymoon at fao schwarz in new york city] and i just know she's love mirabelle the bunny from bla bla kids. and you can't go wrong with an aden and anais blanket!
  • wear: mama has been buying up these stitches and soles moccs left and right. but we need want the platinum and butterscotch gold [she's a size 2 and needs a walker sole in beige on each]. they're the only shoes that stay on her feet! and lastly, with all that growing hair, we need some cute clips to keep it our of her face!
happy black friday shopping everyone!

tuesday treats [spend/save: burberry colorblock poncho]

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

ah, the burberry colorblock poncho. a gorgeous winter-weather accessory seen on celebs like olivia palermo.

i want it.

but shelling out $1,395 [plus another cool $300 for embroidery... because what's a poncho without my initials on it? nothing!] isn't in the cards.

luckily, freya stores came to the rescue with the near identical poncho for thousands less. i'm not that good at the maths, but this looks like a good deal to me. [plus you could take it to a tailor and have it monogrammed for not $300].

happy tuesday!

wear it wednesday [versatility of hatch collection]

Wednesday, November 12, 2014
[hatch collection striped top (old, similar)]

[sorry about my face]

[gap boyfriend jeans (on sale!), coconuts booties via dsw (super old)]

[layered and long gold bar and turquoise bar]

i took outfit photos you guys! i technically have 2 outfits to share with you but the other set of pictures is on the other laptop, blah blah blah, excuses excuses, so i'm sharing this one today.

anywho, i don't know if you remember this top [mainly from my instagrams] but it's a hatch collection striped tee i got while pregnant and i love, love, love that i can take it from pregnancy to postpartum, there aren't many maternity pieces that could do that!

and, it makes an excellent breastfeeding top - no need for a cover! [tmi?]

i'm also love, love, loving my new necklaced from layered and long on etsy. the top bar has lily's birthday engraved in it sideways.

p.s. lily said "mama" to me yesterday! now to only get her to repeat it...

p.p.s. linking up with the pleated poppy!

p.p.p.s. guess what... butt! [i know, i'm 7. but beau really wanted in these pics. he told me]

[youuuuuu're welcome]

mama monday [a little mama update]

Monday, November 10, 2014
as per usual i've been majorly sucking at blogging consistently. but you know, daylight savings time. [did you buy that excuse? no? ok me neither].

today, i wanted to give you all a quick update on this post. i was in a bit of a fashion funk and vowed to do 3 things:
  1. exercise regularly
  2. organize my clothes
  3. outfit plan
i'm happy to say i've been doing pretty darn good on all 3 counts.

i started a new workout called the kayla itsines bikini body and i. absolutely. love. it. it's a circuit workout that takes 28 minutes 3x a week [along with some cardio and stretching - i still do my yoga!] and i do it in my little bedroom after lily goes to sleep. not only do i feel about a million times better, but i can see results! i give you exhibit a:

[exhibit a]

i've also taken the time to weed out my closet and only leave in things i wear regularly. it's not quite a capsule wardrobe, but i'm slowly moving towards that. i'm continually adding things for sale to my threadflip so check it out if you want!

as for outfit planning - i'm still not quite at planning for the whole week, but the night before i have a very good idea of what i'll be wearing the following day. and since my closet only includes things that actually fit me/i love, it's been easier getting dressed!

now if only i started taking outfit pictures again...

happy monday!

thursday tales [8 month update]

Thursday, November 6, 2014
[the best picture we could get of miss squirms & wiggles who kept trying to snatch the chalkboard]

happy 8 months to our little babycakes lily! she's made some amazing strides since the last update:
  • still no teeth!
  • crawls like a champ
  • started standing [assisted, of course]
  • started pulling herself up in her crib [and peeking over the top!]
  • taking a few very assisted steps [especially when holding onto her vtech sit'n'stand]
  • working on her pincer grip
  • "talking" up a storm [particularly saying "dada" to my husband's extreme pleasure. in my defense, she calls me dada, beau dada, her toys dada, etc.]
  • up to 2 full jars of baby food [beechnut!], a breast milk/formula combination for day care [we do 1/2 breast milk, 1/2 formula and she seems to love it. just in time too as my production has taken a big dip!] and nursing in the morning and at night
lily likes: standing up in her crib, toys that make noise, people watching, eating, iphone/ipad/remotes [pretty sure that one is never going to change], chasing beau, day care, and hamming it up for pictures.

lily dislikes: being in the car seat for too long [although she was a champ during our recent trip to visit jason's family], not getting attention, and being dried off after bath time.

this coming month we'll slowly start introducing some more adult foods to her [there was an unfortunate incident with some beechnut chicken that she didn't like a all - mommy ate the rest] as she works on her pincer grip and will be waiting for some tooths to finally make their appearance [there's been a lot of teething but no teeth!].

to quote a little song i keep hearing on the radio: lily, "for all the things my hands have held, the best by far is you". love you, sweetness.

tuesday treats [spend/save: celine trapeze bag]

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

while i may be drooling over the celine trapeze bag, unless i win the lottery, there's no way i'm spending over $3,000 on a purse. so when i stumbled upon the laney from sole society, i couldn't believe my eyes. while it's no, celine, at $49.95, it won't break the bank!

plus it'll look really cute with your new blue suede shoes!

friday favs [sole society jenn d'orsay pump]

Friday, October 17, 2014
friday favs [sole society jenn heels]
[i got a little fancy with the graphic for ya. you're welcome]

sole society is hitting it out of the park with their jenn d'orsay pump. personally, i'm really drawn to the blue suede version.

[do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh, honey, lay off my shoes. don't you step on my blue suede shoooooooes!]

happy friday!

wear it wednesday [the pumpkin patch]

Wednesday, October 15, 2014
[on lily: poop covered old navy hooded sweatshirt, pink footie pants. on me: rails shirt, ray ban wayfarers]

[gimme that, mama]

[at least i'm having fun, right?]

[completely terrified]

[i don't know about this, you guys]

this was supposed to be a wear it wednesday post on the cute little outfit miss lily was supposed to wear to the pumpkin patch on sunday. but as we all know, with babies, shit happens.

and in this case, literally.

it started out like any other day. lily was up at 5, napped twice in the morning, and we were dressed in our halloween best out the door by 1:30. [heck, mama even got a workout in].

the sun was shining and everyone was in a great mood as we made our way to a local orchard. lily was happy as a clam, "talking" up a storm in the backseat.

as soon as we got to the orchard, we saw that it was completely mobbed, but we got lucky and snagged a prime spot near the exit. and that's where it all went to shit.

i went to grab miss chatty cathy from her car seat only to discover that her cute black & orange pants were wet. "dang it", i muttered, "she peed through her outfit".

hoping it was just a little pee, i set up a quick change station in the back of my mini-suv. as soon as i moved her pants i realized it wasn't just pee. there was poop everywhere. all over lily's clothes, the car seat, her hands. poop travels, you know.

horrified, i started changing my baby.

after realizing we had no bags into which we could put the offensive poop-covered clothing, i sent jason off in search of something. while i stripped, wiped, and re-dressed my little one into a new onesie and hot pink footie pants [which were going to clash with the orange pumpkins -sigh-]. after finding poop on her sweater and scrubbing that down with 17,000 wet wipes [because it was the only one we brought], we were finally on our way to see about some pumpkins.

as luck would have it, everyone and their mother was at the patch and the line to pay for said pumpkins would have easily taken us an hour to stand in. so we did what any little family recovering from the trauma of a diaper blow-out would do; took some quick pictures [see above] and hightailed it to red robin for some delicious burgers where lily practiced using her vocal chords, making delighted high-pitched squeals as she people watched.

it was a good day.

p.s. linking up with the pleated poppy!

tuesday treats [shopbop friends & family sale]

shop bop friends & family sale
[if you look carefully at the picture, doesn't it look like it's spelling out YES?]

like every other blog you're coming across today, i'm here to tell you about the shopbop friends & family sale.

it's that special bi-annual sale that gets everyone in a tizzy. just entering family25 and gets you 25% off some amazeballs labels [unfortunately those otk stuart weitzmans and 3.1 philip lim bag are obviously part of the exclusions].

my personal favorites? [i thought you'd never ask!]:

what do you have in your shopbop shopping cart?

wear it wednesday [buffalo check]

Wednesday, October 8, 2014
[old navy dress, madewell chambray shirt]

[coconuts boots (old)]

[just in case you wanted to see my mid-section. because it's super interesting]

this is an outfit post!! i know, i know, who am i and what have i done with natalie? relax, i'll go right back to not taking pictures for next week. [well, hopefully not].

now about this here dress. i lurve it. not just love, lurve. it's actually an old navy x refinery 29 pick and i can see why. the drop waist hides any mid-section bulges and it's super comfy. plus it looks darn good with my boots. and looks like fall.

[picture me looking all googly-eyed] i love fall.

since these pictures were taken last week, i chopped my hair even shorter. i think i'm slowly working my way to a buzz cut. i feel like that would be the lowest maintenance, right?

p.s. linking up with the pleated poppy!

mama monday [7 month update]

Monday, October 6, 2014

today our little ray of sunshine is 7 months old. i say this every month, but this past month was so exciting! lily:

  • started crawling! [she's been working on it for a while but a couple of weeks ago, there was an ipad just out of reach and she wanted it so badly that off she went, one little arm and leg after the other. she looks like a hermit crab when she crawls. and i love it]
  • sleeps. that's right. bedtime starts at 6:15 with a fun bath, then pjs, saying our goodnights to daddy and beau, some quiet nursing and then crib with her bunny. [she usually plays a little and "talks" herself to sleep. and we had to drop her crib the other day because girlfriend was thisclose to pulling up on the side]
  • reaches for things she wants [and most importantly reaches for me] and,
  • picking things up
  • gives big smiles
  • laughs, like really, really laughs [especially when being tickled during bath time]
lily likes: beau [she watches him like a hawk and beams whenever he comes close], her jumper [we ended up getting the same one she has at day care - best decision ever], eating, the iphone/ipad/remotes [crap, we're going to have to get her the iphone 6 before she's 1, aren't we?], posing for pictures [she hams it up], food [and more food]

lily dislikes: being changed [this one's annoying], and not getting what she wants

we tried formula yesterday [enfamil for supplementing] but she didn't quite like it. we'll keep at it because mama is pumping for like 3 hours a day and it's hard/hard to keep up with lily's appetite. i'm hoping to swap out 1 bottle of breast milk for formula for her daily day care intake but we'll see how that goes. [in the meantime, if you need me, i'm probably off pumping somewhere].

overall, lily is becoming quite the independent lady! so very curious, talkative, and demanding.

and i love every single second of it.

mama monday [shaving time as a new working mom]

Monday, September 22, 2014
shaving time

when i first had lily back in march, i spent about a month in sweatpants, showering quickly only when someone was there to watch her, and i remember leaving the house exactly once [my mom and husband "strong-armed" me into a mani-pedi].

there was no time, no anything other than caring for lily. luckily, my husband, family, and friends were amazing in taking care of us. people brought us food, my sister moved in for a week, and jason went as far as creating a little stockpile of basic necessities. [i think we had toilet paper and canned goods to last us through lily's 2nd birthday.]

we eventually got our act together in the "getting out of the house" department, but i'm always looking for ways to shave time [yes, i said shave] because as a working mom, i want to spend as much time as possible with my little family when the workday is done.

for your reading pleasure, i've come up with a list of time shaving tips for mamas-to-be and new mamas alike:

  • stockpile basic necessities before baby comes
  • cook and freeze food for the weeks after the baby arrives [because hunny, you won't be cookin']
  • run errands during your lunch break. so you have plenty of time for baby and hubby after work
  • prep lunches, bottles, diaper bags, the baby's and your outfit the night before so your mornings aren't insane [we're still working on this. i get up at 5:30am and still have a hard time getting out the door before 7:15am. what do i do for almost 2 hours? i'll let you know when i figure it out...]
  • shower the night before. as a serial long-shower-taker, there's no such thing as a "quick shower". [i can stand there for hours and then oops, no time to do your hair/makeup before work!]
  • learn a 5-minute makeup routine and have go-to hairstyles [beyond the pony tailyou've mastered. i'm getting good at this: concealer, tinted moisturizer, illuminator for cheeks, eye shadow, eyeliner, brow filler, mascara. in that order. 5-6 minutes tops!
  • try delivery services like

speaking of dollar shave club - i know you've seen all the viral, hilarious videos and posts on facebook.  i have too, and i was intrigued. any product that will shave me time [and, i guess, my legs] is aces in my book, especially since i'm the worst at remembering to buy razors [and grocery shop in general. who has time for that?].

i have to admit that at first, i thought it was just for guys. but after looking at the blades offered and seeing the 4x for just $6/month, i knew they had a winner.

it's easy - just pick your razor, pay a low monthly fee [$1,$6, or $9 depending on the razor] and they send you refills every month. upgrade or cancel any time. easy peasy mac'n'cheesy.

so there are my tips. how do you shave time as a new mom? i'd love to hear [or i guess, read] them!

friday favs [loving lavender]

if you follow me on instagram [@natalie_hodak] then you know i recently got the most perfect-est lavender boyfriend blazer for my birthday [thanks sisterface!]

i've really been drawn to lavender lately and no only does this blazer satisfy my lavender craving, it's also the best fitting blazer i've ever owned. since it's boyfriend fit, i got an extra small [i have tiny shoulders] and it fits like a dream.

so thanks mural for making the best blazer ever.

happy friday!

p.s. i cleaned out my closet! [a la this post] and while it's not quite un-fancy level [obsessed with her blog], i did have a big pile of clothes i'd like to re-home. some are going to be donated and i spent one glorious sunday afternoon [while lily was napping] photographing a few items [clothes & shoes] to sell on threadflip. so if you're interested, check 'em out!

mama monday [6 month update]

Monday, September 15, 2014

[this face! i just can't]

i was a bad mama and neglected to post a 6 month update last week but i'm making up for it now.

lily-bean turned 6 months on saturday, september 6th and oh, man what a fun month this has been! she:

  • developed quite the bossy personality
  • insists on putting everything in her mouth
  • really started loving baby food [we're giving her peas, green beans, butternut squash from beechnut]
  • demands attention
  • started sleep training [we're working on gradual ferberizing and i completely cut out her night-time feedings. so far, so good]
  • "talks" non-stop
  • tries to crawl [she's on all fours bouncing back & forth]
lily likes: eating [no change there!], the bouncer seat at day care, day care, walks with mama & beau, smiling [it's her favorite, other than eating]

lily dislikes: sleep training, being left alone, and when something is out of her reach

this stage is so much fun. she's really getting a little personality and i love watching her discover new things. we're still doing mostly breastmilk plus the baby food from beechnut but i'm barely hanging on with pumping for the bottles she gets at day care [i'm basically pumping for the next day and can't go anywhere without serious pre-planning] - but no formula yet!

you are my sunshine, baby girl!

thursday thoughts [29]

Thursday, September 11, 2014

it's my birthday and i'll blog if i want to, blog if i want to.

[which i apparently do today].

i'm 29 today! can you believe it? and the blog turns 2 tomorrow. i was going to do this big post with number balloons and all but that would totally go against this little lack of consistent blogging record i have going on here.

so you may have noticed the lack of birthday wishlist post this year. it's funny, but however many times i've sat down to put one together, i couldn't bring myself to ask for a single material thing [and i'm not shy when it comes to wishlists, believe me. remember my holiday list from last year? that's right, there's a chanel in there].

it's probably because no material thing comes close to what i do have - i get to spend my birthday with my wonderful husband, our beautiful baby girl, and our wrinkly pup-dog. and on the weekend i get to hang out with my parents and amazeballs sister for our annual close-the-pool/celebrate-natalie's-birthday get together.

and that's better than chanel.

[but if anyone actually got me chanel, i mean i wouldn't turn it down. what kind of a person would i be to not accept a gift?]

happy thursday!

friday favs [dressed to distress]

Friday, August 29, 2014
friday favs [dressed to distress]

i've been gravitating to distressed denim lately. whether it's these rag & bone shorts or my new pair of perfectly ripped up gap boyfriend jeans, i just can't get enough. [which, by the way, prompts my husband to ask "did you buy them this way?" every. single. time!]

here are some sweet picks that'll have you dressed to distress in no time:

  1. gap sexy boyfriend
  2. old navy rockstar
  3. j brand mid rise crop
  4. citizens of humanity boyfriend
  5. paige white skinny jean
happy friday [and more importantly, happy long weekend]!

tuesday thoughts [a fashion funk]

Tuesday, August 26, 2014
[oh, hi. i cut my hair. it only does straight or straight now. awesome.]

i've been really bad at blogging lately. i'm sure you've noticed. what with the complete lack of posting for a week at a time. the thing is, i haven't been really very inspired with my outfits lately and the thought of taking pictures of what i threw on last minute before running out of the house to get the baby to daycare and still make it to work at a semi-reasonable hour isn't really how i imagined sharing my style with you.

why the fashion funk?

well for starters, really none of my work pants fit. and a lot of my dress hems have somehow jumped a couple of inches [showing a little too much leg than i care to]. there. i said it. all-in-all, i'm about 10lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight and it's all in my stomach, an area i was proud to showcase "in the time before baby" and i don't quite know how to dress this new mama body of mine.

my immediate solution is to buy all new clothes! but, being that that's incredibly unrealistic [but oh, one can wish] and i have perfectly good clothes [and lots of them] that still fit, i just need to take the time to go through everything. which brings me to my next point.

i don't have time to go through all my clothes. i see lily roughly 2.5-3 hours a day during the work week. it kills me to type that but that's the rough reality of us working moms. i get home at 5:30 and she goes to bed at 7:30. and the brief half hour to hour in the morning before work doesn't add much to my lily time. i've even started looking forward to her 3am wailing wake-ups just so i can cuddle her while she eats. so after work and on the weekends, i'm maximizing my time with my daughter, not going through my clothes.

but there are brief glimpses of the productivity that i'm capable of, like that saturday morning a couple weekends back when lily took a 3 hour nap and i organized all of my day-to-day jewelry and underwear/bra [none of them a-cups fit anymore, remember?] drawers and let me tell you what a task that was.

so with the knowledge that i can, in fact, get my act together without decreasing the amount of time i spend with my daughter, i'm putting it out there on the interwebs that i resolve to:
  1. exercise regularly so i can lose the pooch and fit into my pants. lily loves the stroller now so we've already started walking a lot more
  2. organize my clothes, put away stuff that really doesn't fit and donate items i haven't worn in a year [and probably won't wear again]
  3. outfit plan! i actually like to go with the flow when i get dressed in the morning and put on whatever i feel like wearing, but with my new morning routine, ain't nobody got time for that
i welcome any tips from the seasoned mamas out there. oh and, wish me luck!

mama monday [beer & cookies]

Monday, August 11, 2014

i am now on a strict beer and cookie diet [yes, you read that right].

let me explain.

i mentioned at the end of last week's 5 month lily update that we may have to start supplementing with formula because my supply isn't quite meeting miss thing's appetite [and that i'm pretty bummed about that].

after some initial hiccups [that we fixed by meeting with a lactation consultant], breastfeeding has become something i really enjoy. i'm not going to get into the whole drama about breast vs. bottle - this is solely my opinion and what works best for me and my family - but i do want lily to continue to get all the benefits of breast milk as her primary food source without having to supplement.

so why am i worried about my supply? let's do some math [ew, math]. currently, she's eating 4.5 to 5oz at day care... every two hours. that means for the length of time she's there, she gets 5 bottles. so let's be conservative and say that's 25oz, just for day care, every day. [my boobs hurt just thinking about it ]. i typically pump 2-3 times at work and have seemed to have maxed out at 20oz. that 5oz difference has almost depleted [my now organized] stockpile to being barely a day ahead. i try to pump i get home from work, but my supply is a little low then and after breastfeeding all evening, she's been consistently waking up at 11pm and 3am to eat so i want to make sure i'm not all empty-boobed and stuff.

how does that tie back to beer and cookies? here's how:

  • beer: i did some research about alcohol and breastfeeding* as well as beer and breastfeeding and decided to give it a try. the polysaccharide in the barley used to make the beer seem to stimulate prolactin, which helps make more milk. it's actually not the alcohol - so you can use non-alcoholic beer!
  • cookies: lactation cookies to be exact. they're almost all oatmeal chocolate chip and it's the brewer's yeast, oatmeal, and flax seed used in the recipe that help with milk production. i first tried milkmakers lactation cookies but they weren't the tastiest, nor did i notice a huge difference. then i had a girlfriend tell me about this recipe. jason [being the best hubby that he is] made them for me and i'm on my second 48-cookie batch this week. i eat at least 2 [or ahem, 4] a day and they're delicious!
these not the only way to stimulate supply. the more your baby feeds, the more you're supposed to produce. then there's also fenugreek supplement/teas you can take [but they're so gross].

i've been doing both beer and cookies together for a couple of weeks i have actually noticed a difference in my supply - i'm able to pump more throughout the day and even got to pump over the weekend when i exclusive breastfeed lily.

we've also started introducing her to rice cereal, applesauce, bananas, and sweet potato - but she's not really interested. so i'm hoping to have this little setup of mine last me through her 5th month and into the 6th when i want to introduce baby-led weaning. i think she'll do better with picking up a [baby safe] chunk of banana and putting it in her mouth rather than eating it all mushed up from a spoon.

i'd love to hear any mamas out there that are going through or have gone through a decrease in supply and what you did for it!

*before i get any judge-y-ness, i never ever breastfeed my daughter if i feel the least bit tipsy. i only have my beer after she's gone to bed and know that she won't be getting up for another 4 hours. i don't drink 17 beers and get loaded, i have 1. i do, however, eat about 4 cookies a day - so sue me.

thursday tales [5 month update]

Thursday, August 7, 2014

5 months! baby girl turned 5 months yesterday! oh and what a month it's been. this month lily:
  • stopped sleeping! awesome! [not!]
  • transitioned to the crib
  • stopped being swaddled
  • is a full-on stomach sleeper [don't even try to turn her over, she'll flip... literally]
  • started "eating" "solids" [aka moved rice cereal, applesauce, mushed up bananas, and sweet potatoes around her mouth with her tongue all the while making a "wtf is this?" face]
  • outgrew basically anything and everything labelled 3 months
  • reaches for stuff she wants [and more importantly, me!]
  • laughs!
  • discovered that she can splash the water in her bath [so that mama basically takes a bath with her that's how wet she gets]
lily likes: eating [but not so much the baby food], laughing, flipping over on her stomach, smiling at mama & daddy, eating her hands, putting everything and anything in her mouth, standing, toys that light up/make noise, seamus the sheep [thanks ali & kevin!], and day care.

lily dislikes: naps, baby food [so far], sleeping through the night, and not getting attention.

this next month we're going to work on her eating "solids" better, continue our sleep training, and will probably have to supplement with formula because mama isn't producing enough to keep up with a certain voracious eater [and i'm pretty sad about that].

love you, baby girl!

[h&m striped top (in stores), old navy pants]

[julie vos necklace, ray ban aviators]

[julie vos bracelet]

this one of two new striped shirts i recently added to my already plentiful stripe selection. why have a plethora of stripes?

because they're a neutral and practically go with everything.

plus you need different types of stripes. [obviously].

so keep adding to your stripe section, ladies, it's perfectly acceptable!

p.s. i have these old navy pants in blue, black, and floral. and they're amazing.

p.p.s. check out my sweet juggling skillz [yes, with a z]

p.p.p.s. linking up with the pleated poppy!
